Project Description

Team Attleboro knows that the most valuable thing in a library is the people who work there. Their project focused on highlighting library staff members' skills, preferences, and personalities make patrons' library experiences more personal.

Communications Strategy

Recognizing that people respond best to other people, the Library will be showcasing its staff through social media posts, local cable TV spots and library displays (staff favorites, etc).

Library information (brochures & flyers) will be distributed to partner organizations in the city, giving staff a chance to visit their sites and meet community organizers in and around Attleboro.

Staff and volunteers will be empowered to help spread the word about all the library has to offer through short scripts created by our WOMM team.

And so, how'd it go?

Library displays and social media have engaged patrons more in the past year, regularly fostering deeper engagement than simply checking out items or liking posts. Staff is more aware of what's happening in the building due to our weekly newsletter, making them better library advocates to the public.

And how will you keep the momentum going?

Our team will keep meeting and brainstorming ways to connect who we are with the community, building on the success we've had.

And can you talk a little about setbacks, adjustments or lessons learned?

There's simply not enough time in the day for our team to meet and to take action on all of our ideas. We're learning to pace ourselves, take pride in the work we do, and remind ourselves that we're in this for the long haul.
