The Massachusetts Library Association and the Sustainable Libraries Initiative (SLI) are thrilled to announce a partnership that will benefit both MLA members and SLI.
The Massachusetts Library Association is among several other associations joining forces with SLI to educate and elevate librarians and library staff on the work of communities and libraries to become, in the words of SLI, 'more environmentally sound, socially equitable, and economically feasible.'
SLI was created by members of the New York Library Association in response to the NYLA's and ALA’s call to action on the importance of Sustainable Libraries. This initiative provides tools to librarians and library staff to incorporate sustainability in their work.
MLA members will receive the benefit of members-only access to all SLI resources available through SLI such as the Road Map to Sustainability, vendor list, on-demand webinars, eligibility for free access to the SLI-ALA eCourse on Sustainability, and the Climate Action Lab for Libraries.
MLA members will also receive a 20% discount on the fee for certification through the Sustainable Library Certification Program.
In the next few months, members will also have the opportunity to attend SLI webinars presented by SLI volunteers/staff to introduce the SLI/SLCP and can meet SLI members in person at MLA Annual Conference being held on May 6-7 in Framingham.
Stay tuned for more information about how to access these benefits.
MLA looks forward to our partnership with SLI and the seeds of sustainability that will grow in all our Massachusetts communities!
