The Massachusetts Library System (MLS) is developing a Youth Services Learning Pathway (YSLP) to support library staff in building competencies that strengthen their work with children, teens, and families. Informed by a statewide Training Needs Assessment—including over 600 survey responses and multiple focus groups—the YSLP reflects member priorities such as flexibility, inclusivity, and community engagement. Course development is currently underway, with pilot offerings expected in 2026. This pathway is designed to be practical, accessible, and aligned with the evolving needs of youth services staff across Massachusetts.
