Certificate Programs Overview

Certificate programs allow you to dive deeply into a topic area and develop specialized skills that can help you grow in your current position or prepare you for your next one. Certificate programs typically require a significant investment of time, including the completion of one of more courses, and may involve assignments, quizzes, or other assessments. In addition to the knowledge you will gain through the completion of a certificate program, you will also earn a valuable credential that you can add to your resume.

The Massachusetts Library System (MLS) is pleased to provide staff at MLS member libraries with grants to pursue certificates through the following organizations:

Please note: Library staff who receive a grant to pursue a certificate program are expected to complete an MLS survey. Completion of the survey is a requirement of the grant and helps MLS understand the impact of the grant. The MLS survey is an addition to any evaluations that you may complete as part of your certificate program.

Wherever you are on your professional development journey, MLS wants to help you meet your goals.  We look forward to receiving your grant application!
