Learning Services: Webinar Vendors

Welcome to Learning Services at the Massachusetts Library System. On this page, you'll find info about our staff, our services, and links to guides about classes, topics, and services we offer.

Webinar Vendors Overview

The Massachusetts Library System (MLS) aims to offer a variety of trainings to our members. Along with the interactive workshops facilitated by MLS staff, we also provide individuals who work in MLS member libraries with free access to live webinars hosted by well-known library webinar vendors.

Most webinars consist of a single session, are 60-90 minutes long, and are presented by experienced library workers and consultants.

Through these vendor webinars, MLS brings national best practices to Massachusetts library workers, at no cost to you.

This work supports Initiative 1, Goal 3 and Initiative 2, Goal 2 of the MLS Strategic Plan.

Live Webinars

MLS provides access to live webinars offered by:

A few important things to keep in mind:

  • To receive free access to these webinars, you must register through the MLS events calendar. If you register directly with the webinar vendor, your registration will not be paid by MLS.
  • If you are unable to attend a webinar, please cancel your registration as soon as possible. Most webinar vendors charge MLS for each registration, so cancelling your registration will help us keep our trainings free to you.
  • Free access to these webinars is only available to staff who work in MLS member libraries. If you do not work in a Massachusetts library, do not register for these webinars. If you are unsure whether your library is an MLS member, check out the MBLC library directory. All libraries listed are MLS members.

After the webinar, you will receive an evaluation form via email. Please fill this out, even if you were unable to attend the webinar. It only takes two minutes and will help us determine the value that MLS members receive from these webinars. It also helps us understand why people are unable to attend these webinars.

While MLS provides free access to many of the live webinars offered by these webinar vendors, MLS may not provide access to all of them. MLS does not post trainings on major religious holidays. So, there may be some webinars that are posted on a vendor's website that are not posted on the MLS events calendar. If you register with a webinar vendor to attend a webinar that is not posted on the MLS events calendar, you will be responsible for paying the registration fee.

Finally, please note the following:

  • The topics and presenters for these webinars are selected by the webinar vendors, not MLS. As such, MLS is not responsible for the quality or content of these webinars. MLS provides access to these webinars solely as an informational service to MLS members. While MLS is interested in hearing your feedback about the webinars through your evaluation form, questions or concerns about quality or content should be directed to the webinar vendors.
  • MLS will not be posting webinars offered by United for Libraries (an ALA Division for library supporters, like trustees, advocates, friends, and foundations). The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) has a Statewide Group Membership that already allows all Massachusetts library staff and supporters to access those webinars without cost. See MBLC's Trustees: United for Libraries Statewide Group Membership LibGuide for details.

Recorded Webinars

Some webinar vendors offer access to their recorded webinars. At this time, MLS has not contracted with either the American Library Association or LibraryWorks to provide free access to their recorded webinars. If you are interested in viewing one of their recorded webinars, you will need to contact them directly and pay for access. This will not be paid by MLS.

PCI Webinars has made their webinar archive available to MLS members at no cost. To access these recorded webinars, go to the PCI Webinars Niche Academy site for Massachusetts. You will need to create a free account using your work email.

In addition, check out the webinar recordings on the MLS Vimeo channel. There, you will find recorded webinars hosted by MLS staff on a variety of topics.
