2025 Renewal Timeline

Renewal form opens May 1st, 2025
Forms due May 15th, 2025
You will receive a confirmation receipt for your renewal form around May 16th 2025.
MLS staff will review Renewal Forms and update our records over the last two weeks of May 2025.
If we have questions regarding the responses to your renewal form you will be contacted by a member of our staff during the review period.
All schools will be notified about their membership status by May 27th, 2025.
The MLS Executive Board will vote to remove schools who have not met the membership requirements during their June 2025 meeting.
Schools that are removed from membership will begin to lose access to services on July 1st, 2025.

Statewide Databases Guide
In partnership with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) and with additional funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the Massachusetts Library System (MLS) provides access and support to a suite of both general reference and specialized statewide databases.

MHEC - Purchasing Cooperative
The Massachusetts Library System is collaborating with the Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium (MHEC) to provide consortium pricing for library supplies and materials.

Your school's membership renewal will be effective from July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026.
Basic Membership to MLS is FREE.
The Mass. Library System is a separate entity from MSLA (Mass. School Library Association); your school’s membership to the Mass. Library System is unrelated to your MSLA membership.
If you are the librarian for multiple school libraries, you may receive multiple emails, you must submit a form for each school you are serving as the Librarian.
If you are retiring or leaving your position before July 1, 2025, we still need to hear from you. There will be a place on the form to share this information.
Failure to respond will result in your school’s removal from MLS Membership, the loss of custom link access to the statewide databases, and ineligibility for continued or new participation in the MLS Shared SORA Program.
