The Massachusetts Library System currently provides ILL borrowing for member libraries formerly performed by Wellesley and Quincy service centers. The MLS requests returnable items while the Boston Public Library handles requests for Document Delivery or non-returnable copy requests.

Rule #1

Use complete and correct citations to ensure timely processing of your request.

Where do I get my library's ILLiad account number?

In order to use these services, you will need your library's ILLiad account number.  Contact the Resource Sharing Team ( at the Massachusetts Library System if you need your ILLiad account number.

Is there a charge?

The ILL Centers make their best effort to fulfill requests from free lenders.  If there are charges, those charges will be passed on to the requesting library. When an ILL Center obtains material on your behalf, they will have that material shipped directly to your library.  Your library assumes the cost to return the material if it comes from a library out-of-state.
